"I am the vine; you are the branches." John 5:15
This year the Stewardship committee decided to use material entitled “Make It Simple” for the stewardship program. “Make It Simple” provided us with articles for the monthly memo, Bible passages to use in our announcement page of the Sunday bulletin, and a DVD with several different topics.
Jeff introduced the DVD concept in January. In February, we chose Farm Life Is Not Simple – stating the different worries a farmer has, but in the end all that we grow and reap is a gift from God. In April, the theme was More Than Enough stating God is always with us. In June, the DVD portrayed farmers growing produce and reminded us God provides all we need. We asked congregation members to bring in their extra produce from their gardens to share with others. There was a free will offering with the produce that was shared. The money earned (and any produce not taken by members) went to the Cambridge Food Pantry. In August, the theme was Murry Worry which showed a boy getting ready to go back to school and asked us to consider how much is enough. We reminded members of our school kits and asked for their support with that mission.
In November, we introduced our Stewardship program for this year and viewed the DVD on tithing. We set up a display in the fellowship hall with the theme I am the Vine, You are the Branches. We hung each member’s pledge card from the grapevine and asked them to take their card and prayerfully consider their support of the church in the coming year.
The committee mailed quarterly giving statements to our members.
In December, we mailed pledge cards to those members who had not taken them from the grapevine in the fellowship hall. We asked them to please return the pledge cards by the year end.
